Hey,
Let the number of boys and girls be x and y respectively,
x:y=7:5
x/y=7/5
5x-7y=0.
Now,
x=8+y
Substitute X's value in equation first,
5(8+y)+7y=0
40+5y+7y=0
-2y= -40
y= 20.
And, x=8+y
=8+20=28.
Therefore, there are 20 girls and 28 boys in the class.And the total strength of the class is (20+28)=48 students.
