hi there,
let x be the denominator.
therefore the fraction=x-4/x
when 1 is added to numerator and denominator=x-3/x+1=1/2
=2x-6=x+1
x=1+6=7
therefore the fraction=-7-4/-7=3/7
i hope this helps u....

praneethg1818: x-4
rileybiers: hmmm

let the denominator = x.
and the numerator = x-4
∴ A.T.Q
(x-4)/x=1/2
if 1 is added to both the numerator and denominator then,
(x-4+1)/x+1=1/2
(x-3)/x+1=1/2
2(x-3)=1(x+1)-----------by cross multiplying .
2x-6=x+1
2x-x=6+1
x=7
∴ the value is 7/1
∴ the fraction is (7-4)/7
=3/7.
therefore the fraction is 3/7.

   i hope that this will help u......^_^
