the numerator and denominator of a rational number are un the ratio 3 : 4.if the denominator is increased by 3 the ratio become 3 : 5.find the rational number.

numerator/denominator=3/4
n/d=3/4
4n=3d
n=3d/4. ....(1)
n/d+3=3/5
5n=3d+9. ....(2)
substitute (1) in (2)
15d/4=3d+9
15d=12d+36
15d-12d=36
3d=36
d=36/3
d=12
