The numerator and the denominator of a fraction are in ratio 3:2 if 3 is added to the numerator and 2 is subtrqcted from the denominator the new fraction formed is 9:4 find the orignal fraction

now its given that,

                             x/y = 3/2

                            2x = 3y

                             4x = 6y  [multiply by 2]--------------(1)

now 3 is added to numerator, new numerator = (x+3)

       2 is subtracted from denominator, new denominator = (y-2)

it is given that new fraction is in ratio 9:4

so,               (x+3) / (y-2) = 9/4

                   30 = 9y - 4x

                   30 = 9y - 6y     (from eq (1) )

                   30=3y

                   y=3

put value of y in equation (1) we get

               x = 9/2

therefore original fraction is x/y = 3/2
