Let the denominator of the fraction be x.

Given numerator is 6 less than denominator.

So, numerator = x - 6

Fraction is (x-6)/x

Given,

if numerator is decreased by 4 and denominator is decreased by 1,

fraction becomes 5/8

So,

After decreasing 4 numerator becomes = x - 6 - 4 = x - 10

After decreasing 1 denominator becomes = x - 1

Given,

(x - 10)/(x - 1) = 5/8

8x - 80 = 5x - 5

3x = 75

x = 25.

Origianl fraction is (x-6)/x = 19/25
