Answer :

To find  : original fraction

according to given  question we have following condition given ;

let  us consider denominator to be x ,

=  \frac{x - 2}{x}                  ------------------------------(1) (  original fraction )

if numerator is increased by 3 and denominator is decreased by 1 then ,fraction becomes 2 / 3.

i.e.  \frac{x - 2 + 3}{x - 1} =\  \frac{2}{3}                  ---------------------------( 2)

on solving the above equation , we get

3 x +  3 = 2 x - 2

x = -5

substituting value of x in original fraction ( 1 )

original fraction = \frac{x - 2}{x}

                           =  \frac{-5 -2}{-5} \\

                           =  \frac{7 }{5}

Thus, original fraction has 7 has numerator and 5 as denominator i.e.

7/5
