Answer:

4/7

Step-by-step explanation:

let the denominator of the fraction be x

therefore, numerator = x-3

after adding 1 to both fraction = 5/8

A/q

x-3+1/x+1 = 5/8

x-2/x+1 = 5/8

8(x-2) = 5(x+1)

8x-16 = 5x+5

8x-5x = 5+16

3x = 21

x = 21/3

x = 7

so x = 7

therefore denominator = x-3 = 7-3 = 4

therefore denominator = 7

numerator= 4

so the fraction is 4/7

Answer:

4/7

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the denominator if the fraction be = X

Therefore, numerator is = x-3

After adding 1 to both fraction = 5/8

According to the question,

X - 3 + 1/X + 1 = 5/8

x - 2/X + 1 = 5/8

8(x - 2) = 5(x + 1)

8x - 16 = 5x + 5

8x - 5x = 5 + 16

3x = 21

x = 21/3

x = 7

Therefore, denominator = x - 3 = 7 - 3 = 4

Therefore, dominator = 7

Numerator = 4

So the fraction is = 4/7
