QUESTION-:

The numerator of a fraction is 3 less than its denominator. If we add 10 to the numerator the result is 2. Find the original fraction.

EXPLANATION-:

Let the denominator be x

From the condition in the questions-:

Numerator will be x-3

Fraction so formed-:

\rightarrow \tt \dag\;\frac{x-3}{x} \;\dag\;\;\;\;\; \{\because \bf\; Fraction=\frac{numerator}{denominator} \}

After adding 10 to numerator we get-:

Numerator = x-3+10=x+7

Denominator=x        {Since there is no effect on the denominator so denominator  will be same }

Fraction so formed-:

\rightarrow \tt \dag\;\frac{x-3}{x+10}\;\dag

Now ,

A.T.Q-:

\rightarrow \bf\;\frac{x+7}{x}=2\\\\\rightarrow \bf\; 2x=x+7\\\\\rightarrow \bf\;2x-x=7\\\\\huge{\leadsto} \boxed{\underline{\blue\tt \bigstar\;x=7\;\;\bigstar}}

∴The values of x is 7

Which implies that-:

Denominator is 7

and,

Numerator is 7-3=4

and-:

\underline{\underline{\bf\;Original\;fraction\;is\;\frac{7}{4}}}

Answer:

7/5

Step-by-step explanation:

let the denominator be =x

numerator will be X - 3

=> { x -3/x}

=> fraction =N/D

numerator = x-3 + 10 = x +7

denominator =x

so,

{ x-3 /x +10}

now A. T. Q

=> x+7/x =>2

=>2 x = x+7

=> 2x -x =7

numerator =7-3=4

ans=>7/4
