Correct question:-

The numerator of a fraction is 3 less than the denominator.If 3 is added to the numerator and 2 is subtracted from the denominator,the new fraction is 5/3.Find the fraction.

Given:-

•Numerator of a fraction is 3 is than the denominator

•If 3 is added to numerator and 2 is subtracted from denominator,the new fraction is=5/3

To find:-

•The original fraction

Solution:-

Let the denominator be=x

Thus,numerator=x-3

Now,As Per Question:-

=>(x-3+3)/(x-2)=5/3

=>x/x-2=5/3

=>3×x=5(x-2)

=>3x=5x-10

=>3x-5x= -10

=>-2x= -10

=>x= -10/-2

=>x=5

=>Thus,original denominator=5

=>Numerator=(5-3)=2

Hence,the original fraction is 2/5.
