The numerator of a fraction is 3 less than the denominator. If 7 is added to the numerator, the value of the fraction increases by 1. Find the fraction.

let the denominator be X

so numerator will be X-3

according to the question

[7+(x-3)]/X = X-3/X +1

(5+X)/X = (X-3+X )/X

5+X= 2X-3

5+3=2x-x

8=X

numerator will be 8-3 =5

so the friction is 5/8.
