Answer:

Let the numerator be x and the denominator be y, then

Original fraction = x/y

If x = y-3 then

Original fraction = y-3/y

If both the numerator and denominator is increased by 2 then,

y-3+2/y+2 = y-1/y+2

This equals to 6/7

New fraction is y-1/y+2 = 6/7

( by cross multiplication)

(y-1) 7 = (y+2) 6

7y-7 = 6y + 12

7y-6y = 12+7

y = 19

Original fraction = y-3/y

= 19-4/19

= 16/19
