The numerator of a fraction is 4 less than denominator. The denominator is 45 which is divided into four parts. When 2 is added to the first part, 2 is subtracted from the second part, 2 is multiplied by the third part, and the fourth part is divided by 2, all the four results should be the same number. Let 4 parts are a,b,c, and d
so a+b+c+d=45………………….(i)
let F=(a+2) =(b-2) =2c=d/2………….(ii)
so a-b=-4
b=a+4………(1)
b-2=2c
a+4–2=2c
c=(a+2)/2——(2)
also 2c=d/2
d=4c=4*(a+2)/2=2a+4…………(3)
putting all values from(1).(2) and (3) to eqn (i)
a+(a+4) +(a+2)/2 +2a+4=45
2a+2a+8+a+2+4a+8=90
9a=90–18=72
a=8
Thus the value of the said number from (ii)
