Solution

Given :-

  • THE NUMERATOR OF A FRACTION IS 4 LESS THAN IT'S DENOMINATOR.
  • IF 1 IS ADDED TO BOTH NUMBER AND DENOMINATOR IT BECOMES 1/2

Find :-

  • These Fraction

Explantion

Let,

  • Numerator be x.
  • Denominator be y

Case 1.

(THE NUMERATOR OF A FRACTION IS 4 LESS THAN IT'S DENOMINATOR.)

==> x = y - 4

==> x - y = -4________(1)

Case 2.

(IF 1 IS ADDED TO BOTH NUMBER AND DENOMINATOR IT BECOMES 1/2)

==> (x + 1)/(y + 1) = 1/2

==> 2 × ( x + 1) = y + 1

==> 2x - y = 1 - 2

==> 2x - y = -1____________(2)

Sub. equ(1) & equ(2)

==> x - 2x = -4 + 1

==> -x = - 3

==> x = 3

Keep in equ(1)

==> 3 - y = -4

==> -y = -4 - 3

==> -y = -7

==> y = 7

Hence

  • Fraction will be (x/y) = 3/7
