4

Answer: 3/7

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the denominator be x

So, numerator = x-4

According to the question;

(x-4)-2/x+1 = 1/8

x-6/x+1 = 1/8

(x-6)× 8 = (x+1)×1

8x-48 = x+1

8x-x = 1+48

7x=49

x= 7

Hence, the fraction is : 7-4/7 = 3/7

Hope it helps you!
