Let the denominator be x.
Then the numerator would be x - 4.
Then the fraction x - 4/x.
Adding 1 to both we get -:
x - 4 + 1/x + 1 or x - 3/x + 1
x - 3/x + 1 = 1/2
⇒ 2(x - 3) = (x + 1)
⇒ 2x - 6 = x + 1
⇒ 2x - x = 1 + 6
⇒ x = 7
Numerator = x - 4 = 7 - 4 = 3
Denominator = x = 7
Fraction = 3/7
Then the numerator would be x - 4.
Then the fraction x - 4/x.
Adding 1 to both we get -:
x - 4 + 1/x + 1 or x - 3/x + 1
x - 3/x + 1 = 1/2
⇒ 2(x - 3) = (x + 1)
⇒ 2x - 6 = x + 1
⇒ 2x - x = 1 + 6
⇒ x = 7
Numerator = x - 4 = 7 - 4 = 3
Denominator = x = 7
Fraction = 3/7
