let the fraction be x / y

given ,
x = y - 4 ------------- -eq.(1)

y - 4 + 1 / y + 1 = 2 / 3

( y - 3 ) / y + 1 = 2 / 3

3 (y - 3 )= 2( y + 1)

3y - 9 = 2y + 2

3y- 2y = 11

y = 11

put value of "y in (1) ,we get

x = 7

hence,fraction, x / y = 7 / 11

hope it helps

Let the denominator be x The numerator will then be x-4 The fraction is now x-4/x On adding 1 to both numerator and denominator, the fraction is x-4+1/x+1=2/3 x-3/x-4=2/3 On cross multiplying,  3(x-3)=2(x+1) 3x-9=2x+2 3x-2x=2+9 x=11 <hope it helps! >
