the numerator of a fraction is 4 less than the denominator if 1 is added to both its numerator and denominator it become one upon two find the fraction

x-4+1 /x + 1 = 12

[therefore ]

by cross multiplying we get

2 ( x-4+1) =  1 (x+1)

2x - 8 + 2 = x + 1

2x  - x = 1 - 2 + 8

(bringing all variables to one side)

x = 7

ACCORDING TO THE QUESTION;

Fraction=x-4/7
=7-4/7

=3/7

Answer:- 3/7
