Let numerator be x
Then denominator is x+4

Given that 1 is added to both numerator and denominator then the fraction becomes 1/2
=>(x+1)/(x+4+1)=1/2
(x+1)/(x+5)=1/2
2x+2=x+5
2x-x=5-2
x=3
x+4=7

Therefore the fraction is 3/7

Given :-

  • the numerator of a fraction is 4 less than the dinominator .if i is added to the both its. number and denominator it becomes 1/2

 \\

To Find :-

  • The Fraction

 \\

Solution :-

⟼ Let the Denominator be x

⟼ Then Numerator will be x - 4

After adding 1 to them :

⟼ After adding 1, Denominator will be x + 1

⟼ After adding 1, Numerator will be x - 4 + 1

⟼ After adding 1, Numerator will be x - 3

According to the Question :

➞ x - 3 / x + 1 = 1/2

➞ 2 (x - 3) = 1 (x + 1)

➞ 2x - 6 = x + 1

➞ 2x - x = 1 + 6

➞ x = 7

________________

Therefore :

  • Numerator = x - 4 = 7 - 4 = 3
  • Denominator = x = 7
  • Fraction = 3/7
