let the denominator of the fraction be x

∴The numerator of a fraction is [ x -4 ]

Now ATP

if 1 is added to its both its numerator and denominator it becomes 1/2

∴  [ x -4  + 1 ] / [ x + 1]  = 1/2

⇒ [ x - 3 ]  / [ x + 1] = 1/2

⇒2* [ x - 3]  = [ x + 1 ]

⇒2x - 6 = x + 1

⇒2x -x =  1 + 6

⇒x = 7  the denominator of the fraction

⇒ [ x -4 ] = [ 7 - 4 ] = 3 The numerator of a fraction

∴ the  fraction is  3/7    ANS
