the numerator of a fraction is 5 less than the denominator if 3 is added to both numerator and denominator, it becomes 1/2. Find the fraction

Let the denominator = x

Numerator= x-5

According to question...

(x-5+3) / (x+3)= 1/2

(x-2)/(x+3)= 1/2

2(x-2) = 1(x+3)

2x-4 = x+3

2x-x  = 3+4

x= 7

So, denominator = 7

Numerator= x-5= 7-5=2

Fraction= 2/7
