Let,

Denominator = D

So, Numerator, N = D - 6 _____( 1 )

A/q

\dfrac{( \ D - 6 \ ) + 3}{D} = \dfrac{2}{3}

\dfrac{D - 3}{D} = \dfrac{2}{3}

On cross - multiplication, we get

3 ( D - 3 ) = 2 ( D )

3D - 9 = 2D

3D - 2D = 9

D = 9

Now,

Put this value in ( 1 ), we get

N = 9 - 6 = 3

So,

Original fraction = \dfrac{3}{9} = \dfrac{1}{3}
