Let's take the denominator as 'x' so the numerator will be 'x - 6'
: so now the fraction is x - 6/x
if 3 is added to the numerator then the numerator will be x - 6 + 3 = x - 3
so they are saying that the fraction us equal to 2/3
therefore, the fractions will be
x - 3/x = 2/3 ( as given)
there will be cross multiplication.
= (x - 3)3 = 2x
= 3x - 9 = 2x
= 3x - 2x = 9
= x = 9
The initial fraction was x - 6/x
x = 9
= 9 - 6/9
Ans = 3/9 or 1/3.....
