Let numerator be x
x=y-8
acc to the condition
x+1/y-3=1/2
2x+2=y-3
2x-y=-5
2y-16-y=-5
y=-5+16
y=11
sub value of y in x
x=y-8
x=11-8
x=3
therefore the fraction is 3/11

Answer: 3/11

Step-by-step explanation:

let the denominator be x

so the numerator becomes x-8

according to the given conditions

(x-8+1)/(x-3)=1/2

(x-7)/(x-3)=1/2

2*(x-7)=1*(x-3)

2x-14=x-3

2x-x=-3+14

x=11

so the fraction becomes

(x-8)/x

(11-8)/11

3/11

the original fraction is 3/11
