Hello friend here is your answer:-

Let the denominator of that number be x

Then the number becomes=x-3

Now,the numerator for becomes=3(x-3)

And the denominator becomes=x+20

Therefore that number is =3(x-3)/x+20

New number=1/8

Now the equation is=

3(x-3)/x+20=1/8

3x-3/x+20=1/8

After cross multiplication

8(3x-3)=x+20

24x-3=x+20

-3-20=x-24x

-23=-23x

23=23x

x=23/23=1

There denominator=1

Numerator=x-3=1-3=-2

Rational number=-2/1=answer
