Given :-

The numerator of a rational no. is 4 less than the denominator if 1 is added to numerator and denominator both, the rational number becomes 1/2

To Find :-

Fraction

Solution :-

Let the denominator be x and numerator will be x - 4

x - 4 + 1/x + 1 = 1/2

x - 3/x + 1 = 1/2

2(x - 3) = 1(x + 1)

2x - 6 = x + 1

2x - x = 1 + 6

x = 7

Fraction = x - 4/x

Fraction = 7 - 4/7

Fraction = 3/7
