The numerator of a rational number is 3 less than its denominator. If the denominator is increased by 5 and the numerator by 2, we get the rational number as 1/2 . Find the rational number​

Answer:

let the denomination be x

numerator = x-3

Ration number = x-3/x

Atq,

denominator = x+5

numerator = x-3+2 = x-1

now ,

x-1/x+5 = ½

=> 2(x-1) = x+5

=> 2x - 2 = x+5

=> 2x = x+5 +2

=> 2x = x+7

= 2x - x = 7

= x = 7
