Given:-

The numerator of a rational number is 3 less than the denominator. If the denominator is increased by 5 and the numerator by two Then the rational number is 1/2

To Find:-

The fraction and the numerator and denominator

Method Used:-

To cross multiply the numerator and denominator with the fraction

Solution:-

=> x-3+2=1

x+5 =2

=>. 2[x-3+2]=1[x+5]

=>. 2x-2 = x+5

=>. 2x-x=5+2

=>. x=7

=> The numerator is 7-1=6

=> The denominator is 7+5=12

Therefore:-

=> 6/12=1/2

=>. 1/2=1/2
