let the denominator be x
numerator=x-3
4 added to numerator =x-3+4=x-1
12 added to the denominator=x+12
x-1/x+12=1/2
2(x-1)=1(x+12)
2x-2=x+12
2x-x=12+2
x=14
numerator=x-3
4 added to numerator =x-3+4=x-1
12 added to the denominator=x+12
x-1/x+12=1/2
2(x-1)=1(x+12)
2x-2=x+12
2x-x=12+2
x=14
