numerator-x, denominator-y
x+8=y
x+17/y-1=3/2
put val of x in eq 2
y=5 now lut back in eq u shall get x

Let the denominator be x

According to question

(x-8) + 17/x-1 = 3/2

x +9/ x-1 = 3/2

2(x+9) = 3(x-1)

2x + 18 = 3x - 3

18 - 3 = 3x - 2x

x=15

rational no. = x-8 / x

                   =15-8/15

                   = 7/15 Ans
