The numerator of the fraction is 4 less than its denominator. if the numerator is decreased by 2 and the denominator is increased by 1 the denominator becomes 8 times its numerator find the fraction ?

let the initial fraction be x/x + 4 {Given in the question}
Now, A/q,
8(x-2) = x+4+1
=> 8x-16=x+5
=>7x=21
Therefore x=3
Hence, initial fraction is 3/7
