The odometer of a car reads 2000 km at the start of a trip and 2600 km at the end of the trip. If the trip took 8 h, calculate the average speed of the car in km h–1 and m s–1. *

Answer:

Initial reading= 2000km

Final reading= 2600km

So distance covered is 2600-2000= 600km

Time taken to cover the distance= 8hr

As we know speed=distance/time = 600/8

= Speed (in km/hr) = 75km/hr

Speed in m/s = 75*5/18 = 125/6 meter per sec

Explanation:

It is given that the total distance travelled by the car is 2400 km-2000 km = 400 km, that is, 400000 m and the total time taken =8 hours, that is, 8×60×60=28800seconds..

Average speed in km/hr = total distance/total time = 400/8 = 50 km/hr.

Average speed in m/s = total distance/total time = 400000/28800 = 13.89
