Solution :

Given :-

▪ Initial reading = 2000km

▪ Final reading = 2500km

▪ Time interval = 8hrs

To Find :-

▪ Speed of car during whole journey.

Concept :-

▪ Speed is defined as ratio of distance covered by body to the time taken.

▪ Speed is scalar quantity.

Mathematically,

\underline{\boxed{\bf{\pink{speed=\dfrac{distance}{time}}}}}

Calculation :-

\implies\bf\:speed=\dfrac{final\:reading-initial\:reading}{time}\\ \\ \implies\sf\:speed=\dfrac{2500-2000}{8}\\ \\ \implies\sf\:speed=\dfrac{500}{8}\\ \\ \implies\underline{\boxed{\bf{\purple{speed=62.5\:kmph}}}}

QUESTION :

The odometer of a car reads 2000 km at the start of trip and 2500 km at the end of trip.

The trip took 8 hours.

What is speed of car?

SOLUTION :

In the above Question, the following information is given :

The odometer of a car reads 2000 km at the start of trip and 2500 km at the end of trip.

The trip took 8 hours.

Therefore the net distance travelled by this car in this time interval :

D = D 2 - D 1 = 2500 km - 2000 km = 500 km.

Time taken to cover this distance = 8 hrs.

=> Speed of the car = Distance / Time

=> Speed = 500 / 8 kmph = 62.5 kmph.

Answer :

The speed of the car is 62.5 kmph.
