The odometer of a car reads 2675km when the clock shows 10:00 am. What is the distance moved if at 10:40 am, the odometer reading has changed to 2700km? Also calculate the speed of the car in km/hr and m/s.

Answer:-

S = 25 km

V = 37.5 km/hr

V = 10.41 m/s

Given :-

Initial reading = 2675 km

initial time = 10 :00 AM

Final reading = 2700 km

Final time = 10 : 40 AM

To find :-

The distance travelled.

The speed of car in km/hr and m/s.

Solution:-

The distance travelled by car during whole journey is :-

S = Final reading - initial reading

S = 2700 - 2675

S = 25 km

Now,

Time taken in whole journey:-

T = Final time - initial time

T = 10 : 40 - 10 : 00

T = 40 minutes

T = 40/60

T = 2/3 h

Speed is given by formula :-

 \huge \boxed{V = \dfrac{S}{T}}

V = \dfrac{25}{\dfrac{2}{3}}

 V = \dfrac{75}{2}

 V = 37.5 km/hr

hence,

The speed of car will be 37.5km/hr.

Convert in to m/s multiply will 5/18.

v = 37.5 × 5/18

v = 187.5/18

v = 10 . 41 m/s.
