CORRECT QUESTION :-

★ The odometer of a car reads 2100 km at the start of a trip and 2500 km at the end of a trip. If the trip tooks 8 hours find the average speed of the car.

GIVEN :-

  • initial reading of odometer = 2100 km.
  • final reading of odometer = 2500 km.
  • Time taken by the trip = 8 hours.

TO FIND :-

  • The average speed of car.

SOLUTION :-

since , The odometer of a car reads 2100 km at the start of a trip and 2500 km at the end of a trip. so the total distance covered by the car will be the difference between " Final reading of odometer" and " initial reading of odometer.

→ distance covered by the car = final reading of odometer - initial reading of odometer.

→ 2500 - 2100 km.

→ 400 km.

Hence the total distance covered by the car is 400 km.

→ Average speed = Total distance covered buy the car/Total time taken.

→ 400 km/8 h

→ 50 km/h.

Hence the average speed of the car in km/h is 50 km/h.

Now, we have to convert the average speed of car in m/s also.

→ Average speed of car = 50 km/h.

→ (50 × 1000)/3600 m/s

→ (50 × 10)/36 m/s

→ 500/36 m/s

→ 13.88 m/s

Hence the average speed of the car in m/sec is 13.88 m/s.

Hence the average speed of car in km/h is 50 and in m/s is 13.88.

  • The odometer of a car reads 2100km at the start of a trip .

  • And 2500km at the end of a trip .

  • The total journey took 8hrs .

\mathcal{\pink{\underbrace{\blue{TO\:FIND:-}}}}

  • The average speed of the car in km/h and m/s .

\mathcal{\pink{\underbrace{\blue{SOLUTION:-}}}}

☃️ Total distance covered by the car is equal to the difference between final reading of the odometer and initial reading of the odometer .

\rm{\implies\:Total\:distance\:=\:(2500\:-\:2100)\:km\:}

\rm{\implies\:Total\:distance\:=\:400\:km\:}

  • 400km = 400000m

⚡ Total time of the journey = 8hrs

  • 8h = 8 × 60 × 60 = 28800s

AVERAGE SPEED IN Km/h :-

  • Total Distance = 400km

  • Total Time = 8h

\rm{\implies\:Average\:Speed\:=\:\dfrac{400}{8}\:}

\rm{\green{\implies\:Average\:Speed\:=\:50\:km/h\:}}

AVERAGE SPEED IN m/s” :-

  • Total Distance = 400000m

  • Total Time = 28800s

\rm{\implies\:Average\:Speed\:=\:\dfrac{400000}{28800}\:}
