 · ... a x 2 + b x + c = 0 has equal roots if and only if b 2 − 4 a c = 0 . You may now calculate the value(s) of k accordingly

False: f(x) = kx^2 + x + k (a = k, b = 1, c = k)

For equal roots  b^2 – 4ac = 0

⇒(1)2 – 4(k) (k) = 0

⇒ 4k^2 = 1

⇒ k^2 = 1/4

Therefore K=1/2
