Spiders spin their webs out of silk which is produced by the silk glands.
These silk glands are found in an organ called spinnerets found usually on the underside of the abdomen of the spider, towards the rear.
The average number of spinnerets each spider has is six and it is with the help of the spinnerets that the spider chooses the thread type.
