The organisation of a dance competition decided that the winner in the competition gets a prize of 100 rs and a participant who doesn't win gets a prize 25 rs the total prize money distributed is 3300 rs find the number of winners if the total number of participants is 69

✿Then the number of participants who do not win is given as (63 – x)

✿The prize money given to x winners = Rs ( 100x)

The prize money given to (63 – x) participants is = Rs 25(63 – x)

x + y = 69

100x + 25y = 3300

4x + y = 132

  • subtract

3x = 63

therefore , x = 21

x + y = 69

21 + y = 69

therefore y = 48

Hence , there are 48 losers and 21 winners
