let probability of outcome of success= x
probability of outcome of failure=2x
x+2x=1
3x=1

total no of possible outcome is 2 (success and failure)
let us take the probability of failure as x
 \frac{x}{2}  +  \frac{2x}{2}  = 1 \\ x + 2x = 2 \\ 3x = 2 \\2 x =  \frac{2}{3}  \\ x =  \frac{1}{3}
