Getting into more depth, it is obvious that each and every favorable event can be related to certain specific outcomes. Just like tossing a coin single time or rolling a dice once.

In case of tossing a coin once it is obvious that you can expect only two possible outcomes – One Head or One tail. Similarly if you roll a dice once you can expect only six possible outcomes – any one of the numbers between 1 to 6.

If by any chance you get a result that is not expected than we say that the outcome of the event was not as expected. So the moment you roll a dice once and you get a number anything other than 1 to 6, then the outcome is said to be unexpected. In case of tossing a coin, if you neither get a head nor a tail (if the coin lands on its side) then the outcome is said to be unexpected.
