Given:

Thickness =2 cm

Outer diameter of metallic pipe =18 cm

∴ Outer radius (R) =9 cm

Then inner radius =9−2=7 cm

Height of pipe =4 cm [Given]

The surface area of outer pipe =2πRh

=2π×9×4

=72π cm

2

Inner surface area of pipe =2πrh

=2×π×7×4

=56π cm

2

Hence, surface area of metallic pipe =72π−56π

=16π cm
