\textbf{\underline{Step-by-step explanation :- }}

Outer dimension of box = 16 cm × 12 cm × 8 cm

= 1536 cm³

Now think of a cardboard thick 1 cm. There are two length, two breadth and two height in box. There fore total length of thickness is 2 × 1 is 2 cm.

Inner dimensions = ( 16 - 2 ) × ( 12 - 2 ) × ( 8 - 2 ) cm³

= 14 × 10 × 6 cm³

= 840 cm³

Now, remaining volume = 1536 - 840 cm³

= 694 cm³

Now, 1 cm³ costs = Rs 2.5

694 cm³ will cost = 694 × Rs 2.5

\textbf{\huge{=\underline{Rs 1735}}}
