since here the outer edge = circumference of a circle therefore ,
2πr = 440
r = 440/2*7/22
r= 10*7
r=70
now it is said that it is widened by 5m
so now r = 70+5 = 75m
therefore newer circumference will be
2*3.14*75 (22/7 can also be written as 3.14 for convenience)
= 471 m sq
now cost of widening =471*8 = 3768₹ hence solved.
