the Oxidation number of hydrogen is +1
the Oxidation number of oxygen is -2
the sum of the Oxidation numbers of nuetral molecule is zero
H+N+4 (O)= 0
+1+N+4 (-2)=0
1+N-8=0
N=7
I think this ia not correct. .. nitrogen is VA group element so its oxidation number not more than 5...
