Hii friend,

We know the formula,

P.E of a spring = Kx²

F= Kx ²=> E......(1)

Now at the length of 2 cm

F= K×(4x²)

F= 4Kx²

F= 4E.

The resultant Potential energy will be 4E.

Hope this helps you a little!!!

ImmortalKiller: sorry
ImmortalKiller: it is 1/2 kx2
ImmortalKiller: 1/2 kx square is the p.e.
ImmortalKiller: and -kx is the force
saka82411: OK no problem. The answer will be 4E
ImmortalKiller: 1/2 x (2)square
ImmortalKiller: = 2
ImmortalKiller: so the answer will remain 2E

pE is kx
here x is displacement of spring
kx in first case k(1)= k
in second case k(2)=2k
