The pair of lines represented by the equations 2x+y+3=0 and 4x+ky+6=0 will be parallel if value of k is__________.​

The two lines will be parallel when the value of k = 2.

• Two lines are parallel if their slopes are equal.

• Slope of line = (coefficient of x) / (coefficient of y)

• Slope of 1st line = (-2) / 1

                           = -2

• Slope of 2nd line = (-4) / k

• According to the question,

the two lines are parallel. Then,

(-2) = (-4) / k

k = 2
