The parallel sides of a trapezium are 10cm and 20 cm .its non parallel sides are equal each being 13 cm .find the area of trapezium

(s): 11Since the length of nonparallel sides are equal, its shape is like "/ \". We divide the trapezium into 3 parts - 2 triangles and a rectangle. base of triangle = (20-10)/2 = 5 height of triangle as well as rectangle^2 = 13^2 5^2 height^2 = 144 height = 12 area of trapezium = (1/2)(sum of parallel sides)(height) = (1/2)(10+20)(12) = 180 cm square
