QuestioN :

The parallel sides of a trapezium are 13 cm and 7 cm and the distance between them is 10 cm. Find the area of trapezium.

GiveN :

  • Parallel side = 13 cm and 7 cm
  • Distance = 10 cm

To FiNd :

  • The area of trapezium.

ANswer :

The area of trapezium is 100 cm².

SolutioN :

Area of a trapezium

\sf \implies \dfrac12 \times sum\:of\:parallel\:sides \:\times\: height

\sf \implies \dfrac12 \times (13+7) \times 10

\sf \implies \dfrac12 \times 20 \times10

\sf  \implies 100\:cm^2

∴Hence, the area of trapezium is 100 cm².

Answer:

Length of parallel sides of a trapezium are 10 cm and 8 cm respectively.

Sum of parallel sides = ( 10 + 8 ) cm = 18 cm .

Distance between two parallel sides = 7 cm.

Area of trapezium = 1/2 × ( Sum of parallel sides ) × ( Distance between them ).

=> 1/2 × 18 × 7

=> 9 × 7

=> 63 cm².

Hence,

Area of trapezium = 63 cm².
