AnswEr :

  • The area of the trapezium = 115 cm².

Explanation :

We are given with the parallel sides of a trapezium and the distance between them, that is,

  • Parallel sides of trapezium = 15cm and 8 cm.

  • Distance between them = 10cm.

We have to find out the area of the trapezium.

As we are given with parallel sides of trapezium and distance between them we know the required formula, that is,

Area of trapezium = 1/2 × (sum of parallel sides) × Distance between them.

Substituting the given values in the formula,

⇒ Area of trapezium = 1/2 × (15 + 8) × 10

⇒ Area of trapezium = 1/2 × 23 × 10

⇒ Area of trapezium = 1 × 23 × 5

⇒ Area of trapezium = 23 × 5

Area of trapezium = 115

Hence, the area of the trapezium is 115 cm².

⠀⠀⠀ Additional information :

Know about trapezium :

  • A trapezium is also a quadrilateral.

  • A trapezium has defined shape.

  • A trapezium has four unequal sides.

  • A trapezium has two non parallel sides.

  • The sum of all fourangles of a trapezium is 360°. This statement is known as angle sum property of trapezium.

Given

  • Length of both parallel sides are 15 cm & 8 cm.
  • Distance or height between them is 10 cm.

To find

  • Area of Trapezium

Formula

{\underline{\boxed{ \bf{Area \:  of  \: a  \: Trapezium= \frac{1}{2} \times ( Sum  \: of  \: parallel  \: sides)\times Height }}}}

Solution

 { \sf{Area \:  of  \: Trapezium =  \cfrac{1}{2}  \times( 15 + 8) \times 10}}

 { \sf{Area \:  of  \: Trapezium =  \cfrac{1}{2}  \times( 23) \times 10}}

 { \sf{Area \:  of  \: Trapezium =  \cfrac{1}{\cancel 2}  \times( 23) \times {\cancel{ 10}}}}

 { \sf{Area \:  of  \: Trapezium = 1 \times 23 \times 5 }}

 { \sf{Area \:  of  \: Trapezium =  23 \times 5}}
