Given:

  • Parallel sides of trapezium are 12cm and 8cm respectively

  • Distance between parallel sides (height) = 6cm

To find:

  • Area of the trapezium

We should use the formula,

Area of trapezium = 1/2 h(a + b)

Where,

  • 'h' is the distance from the parallels

  • 'a' and 'b' are the parallel sides

In this question,

  • a = 8 cm

  • b = 12 cm

  • h = 6 cm

Now substituting values in the formula given above we get,

 \frac{1}{2} h(a + b) \\   \\  =  \frac{1}{2}  \times 6 \times (8 + 12) \\  \\  = 3 \times 20 \\  \\  = 60 {cm}^{2}

The required answer is 60 {cm}^{2}

Hope it helps:)
