The part of P and Q are present only in plant cells, and they are not present in animal cells. The part P contains a green pigment called R whereas part Q is made of a tough material S. The part P takes part in the food making process whereas part Q gives shape and support to the plant cell.
(a) What is (i) P, and (ii) Q?
(b) What is (i) R, and (ii) S?

Answer:

Explanation:

The green pigment is called chlorophyll. Chlorophyll gives green colour to their plants.

Chlorophyll is very important as photosynthesis helps to capture the energy of 'sunlight into chemical energy'. In photosynthesis, 'chlorophyll absorbs energy' and then transforms 'water and carbon dioxide' into oxygen and carbohydrates.

'Meristematic tissue' has a number of features, like they have 'small cells', 'thin cell walls', 'large cell nuclei', small vacuoles which may be absent too, and no intercellular spaces.

Meristematic tissue helps to 'increase the length' and the 'growth of the plants'.

(a) P is Chrloroplasts and Q is cell wall.

(b) R is chlorophyll and S is cellulose.

Explanation:

Plant cells contain chloroplast and cell wall, but animal cells do not have them.

P is Chrloroplasts. Chrloroplasts contain green pigments called chlorophyll which captures the energy from sunlight and converts it into glucose during photosynthesis. R is chlorophyll.

Q is cell wall which is made of tough material called cellulose. S is cellulose. The cell wall gives shape and support to the plant cell.
